Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement for travel to and from their care recipient’s home and liability insurance coverage.

Na Hoaloha –“loving friend” – is a community volunteer organization that provides compassionate support services to seniors so they can continue to live full and independent lives. As a community based organization that serves the aging population, Nā Hoaloha is committed to providing support to kupuna and persons with disabilities that will enable them to live independently and will enhance their quality of life. This is only possible through the devotion and compassion of our team of volunteers. Ranging in age from 16 to 96, volunteers with Nā Hoaloha can find just the right match to meet their schedules, interests, and talents. Our programs can be customized to fit your individual availability and interests. The intergenerational volunteer program provides an opportunity for young adults in high school to earn required community service hours. More importantly, these young men and women are gaining insight into the issues of aging and how their efforts make a difference. Nā Hoaloha supports our volunteers by providing training opportunities; celebrating achievements and successes; staying informed about issues affecting the aging population and how they impact the community; striving to make the assignment and reporting process more efficient; and by listening and caring about their needs.

In the last year Na Hoaloha volunteers drove over 60,000 miles, donated 26,000 hours of service, made 2846 telephone reassurance calls and provided 41 families 2292 respite hours.
